COVID-related Data for HS&OR
Access data and other resources that might be appropriate for health services and outcomes research related to COVID-19
The main data source is Johns Hopkins’ electronic medical record, Epic. The registry is refreshed weekly with new and updated data and is available for Johns Hopkins investigators to analyze subsets of the COVID-19 patient population for retrospective analyses. CHSOR members Dr. Jodi Segal and Dr. Caleb Alexander have been using these data.
The National COVID Cohort Collaborative is the partnership among the NCATS-supported Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program hubs and the National Center for Data to Health (CD2H). At Johns Hopkins, Dr. Christopher Chute has taken the lead on this activity.
The Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) collects protocols for COVID-19 data analysis and other COVID-19 related protocols, such as diagnostics, observational and outcomes studies.
PCORnet®, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network, is creating a COVID-19-specific Common Data Model that will allow the use of information from patients across PCORnet’s network At Johns Hopkins, Dr. Harold Lehmann leads these activities.
The JHU Modeling & Policy Hub supports existing groups across JHU to provide policy advice to public-sector decision-makers; provides support for critical client services; and creates cross-JHU opportunities for problem-solving and analytics. The Hub supports initiatives concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hub’s manager is Alex Zapf, among Hub's coordinators is CHSOR member Dr. Dan Polsky.
The National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) is conducting a mail follow-back for its participants and two family members or friends who have helped participants most during the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics include COVID-19 symptoms, social distancing behaviors, and changes compared to before the outbreak in living arrangements, contact with family and friends, activities, health care, finances, wellbeing and care. NHATS has also added an open-ended question to its telephone interview on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected participants’ lives. The open text will be de-identified, transcribed and made available to researchers. NHATS is co-led by CHSOR member Dr. Judy Kasper. For more information, please email email@example.com.
