CLF’s Director, Robert S. Lawrence, MD, was among the featured presenters at last month’s TEDx Manhattan Conference, “Changing the Way We Eat.” His presentation, “The Effects of a High Meat Diet on Public Health,” is now available on YouTube. The event, attended by 350 invited guests at New York’s Times Center, was also featured on a live webcast. Nearly 26,000 total streams of the webcast, comprising almost 9,000 unique web addresses tuned into the program. TEDx Manhattan is one of several self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. In addition to Dr. Lawrence, the 17 speakers throughout the day included Wenonah Hauter, executive director of Food and Water Watch; Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The Human Society of the United States; David Wallinga, MD, of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy; and Fred Kirschenmann, distinguished fellow at the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture and president of the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture.
