Johns Hopkins Public Health Preparedness Programs consists of two Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded centers - The Johns Hopkins Preparedness and Emergency Response Research Center (JH~PERRC) and The Johns Hopkins Center for Public Health Preparedness (JH~CPHP). These programs are part of an integrated network of preparedness research and training activities aimed at addressing CDC’s “Healthy People 2010” priority areas to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. JHPHPP faculty and staff strive to make ongoing contributions to public health emergency preparedness systems research and training. The centers within the JHPHPP represent a 2-sided approach to public health system preparedness, by working to enhance 1) the ability of public health systems to effectively prepare for and respond to emergencies through tailored trainings to improve both competency and capacity, and 2) research activities aimed at increasing the readiness, willingness, and ability of public health professionals, their agencies, and others within the public health emergency preparedness system to respond in a declared emergency. |
