Community Health Survey

Community Health Assessment Survey for Washington, D.C. Zip Codes 20015 and 20016

Johns Hopkins investigators conducted a Follow-up on the Spring Valley Health Study to:

  1. Document community concerns about health impacts possibly related to the Spring Valley Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS);
  2. Conduct open communication on project methods and findings;
  3. Follow-up on issues raised in the 2007 Scoping study; and
  4. Provide resources and education as needed.

This work builds on the Johns Hopkins May 2007 Public Health Scoping Study datasets and findings (see report here).  This project consists of three components: 1) Community Outreach; 2) Health Assessment; and 3) Environment and Exposure Analysis. Project findings will identify current and ongoing health concerns of residents, inform the community about the potential for exposure to environmental contaminants found at the site, and evaluate, summarize, and communicate available data on increased health risks possibly related to environmental contaminants found at the site.

Results of the study are expected to be available in Spring 2013.
