Thank you for your interest in injury prevention and health care reform. This fact sheet produced by the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy provides specific examples of how health care reform can include injury prevention. It offers an overview on three issues that need attention, and strategies for addressing them through health care reform. Recently a group of leading research universities, professional organizations and advocacy groups from across the United States joined together for the first time to create an ad you may have seen in Roll Call. The goal was to communicate the enormous burden injuries pose to the health care system and the unique opportunity that health care reform provides to reduce costs and save lives. Many other opportunities for reducing the burden of injury through comprehensive health care reform exist, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy, in partnership with the organizations listed below, welcomes the opportunity to discuss how best to incorporate such options into health care reform legislation. Please contact Alicia Samuels, director of communications at alsamuel@jhsph.edu. Please click on the organization’s name to be taken to their website. Many of these groups have additional resources on injuries and health care reform.
