Release of new global analysis: Inattention to HIV/AIDS-related Needs of Gay Men and Other Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) Threatens “AIDS-Free Generation” Goal.
The analysis is a detailed critique of programming by international donors and eight country governments.

The media briefing addresses the groundbreaking new report that provides the most comprehensive analysis to date on the deadly shortfall in response to the AIDS epidemic among gay men and other MSM. The briefing is sponsored by amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research and the Center for Public Health and Human Rights at Johns Hopkins University.

President Barack Obama recently called for the creation of an “AIDS-free generation” and directed U.S. agencies engaged in foreign assistance to factor in the treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. This new report explores how HIV/AIDS assistance is—and isn’t—being delivered to MSM and LGBT people in countries that receive assistance around the world.

WHAT:      The media tele-briefing for “Achieving an AIDS-Free Generation for Gay Men and Other MSM,” sponsored by amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research and the Center for Public Health and Human Rights at Johns Hopkins University, will bring together several researchers who worked on the report from countries including Ethiopia, Nigeria, and China. They will discuss the results and what the data say about the troubling relationship among foreign assistance, MSM, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The briefing will be moderated by amfAR Deputy Director, Public Policy, Owen Ryan.
