Ye-Mon Myint is a DrPH student in Population, Family and Reproductive Health (PFRH). He received his medical degree (MBBS) from the Institute of Medicine, Yangon, Myanmar in 1996 and his MPH from the Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2003. Myint worked with Maries Stopes International in Myanmar to establish a network of reproductive health clinics in peri-urban areas. He also worked with UNICEF in piloting and scaling-up a Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) project in Myanmar. This led him to an interest in public health practice, particularly in reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. His current research focus is on gender differences in reporting pregnancies within union in developing countries.
Maria Jose Perez-Patron
Maria Jose Perez-Patron is a PhD student in PFRH, from which she also earned an MHS in 2004. She received her undergraduate training in psychology and applied statistics from the National University of Mexico (UNAM). Her main experience has been in research; in Mexico she was involved in projects related to development and poverty and more recently she worked for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, coordinating a multi-center study evaluating rehabilitation outcomes in amputee patients. Her academic focus is in demography and its application to health policy implementation and evaluation in Mexico and Latin America.
