| About EHS Welcome to the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. The diversity of the Department lies within its four divisions. This organization offers our students many exceptional opportunities for course selection, research, and training in an environment that enables our students to follow a wide-range of environmental health science interests. These are exciting times in environmental health sciences. Some of the most vital concerns facing our society involve the environment and its impact on human health. As the oldest, largest, most academically acclaimed school of public health in the country, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has a proud tradition of excellence that positions us to confront contemporary challenges. As chair of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, I am committed to creating an atmosphere that is creative, forward-thinking, innovative, and facilitative for intellectual growth.
The Department is a vibrant entity conducting research and training that spans the spectrum of acute and chronic diseases exacerbated by environmental agents. Our relationships with the Schools of Medicine and Nursing ensure that our basic research can be rapidly translated into prevention strategies. In addition, our Department houses 1 of 22 National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Centers, enhancing our unique academic environment.
I invite you to explore our website and join us on an evolving discovery process as we move into the most promising time of scientific exploration in human health. Whether you are a current student, prospective student, media or governmental representative, this website offers easy access to the latest news on a wide range of public health issues.
