In the first year of this project, four positions are available for attending short courses in June-July 2011 (Baltimore). Courses are listed here.
In the second year of the project, short courses will be presented in Ulaanbaatar, at HSUM-SPH. These courses will focus on methods in public health research and on topics relevant to the focus of this project. They will include online courses in Mongolian as well as intensive small courses on specific topics. Computer-based, problem-based learning exercises will be included. Courses will be taught in English. Both JHSPH and HSUM-SPH faculty will be involved in these courses. In addition, JHSPH faculty will present public lectures in Ulaanbaatar for these courses. HSUM-SPH possesses new facilities for education and training, including two fully equipped computer labs with internet connectivity, small and large lecture rooms, and conference center services at HSUM-SPH.
Admission to the short courses at HSUM-SPH will be managed by the Advisory Committee at HSUM-SPH. Priority will be given to members of the MSPH and HSUM, but other public health researchers and practitioners are urged to apply. These are intensive courses, and applicants are recommended to enroll in only one course at a time.
Preliminary applications should be submitted by February 15, of the academic year for which you are applying to take Summer Institute courses. Information will be posted on this website concerning short courses to be held at HSUM-SPH.
In the first year of this project, one position is available for a research experience fellowship at JHSPH; an additional position will be available in the fourth year of the project. Applicants should initiate a discussion with the HSUM-SPH Selection Committee on their proposed plan for this training experience to ensure a meaningful and productive experience. MSPH degree program
In the second year of this project, two positions will be available for candidates at JHSPH; one additional position will be available in the third year, and one additional position will be available in the fourth year. Applicants interested in the Master's programs should review their qualifications for admission, and contact the JHSPH co-director and the HSUM-SPH co-director prior to applying to the Master's program.
Transition to PhD Program
After completion of the Master's program, possible transition to the PhD program is possible for qualified students.
**PLEASE NOTE: The application and selection process are two stages, as these applications must be approved by the Graduate Admissions Committee at JHSPH after selection by the Fogarty Selection Committee at HSUM-SPH.
APPLICATION FOR THE FIRST TWO POSITIONS IN THE MSPH PROGRAM MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED TO THE SELECTION COMMITTEE AT HSUM-SPH BY February 15, 2011. THE STUDENT MUST ENROLL AND BE IN RESIDENCE AT JHSPH BY THE BEGINNING OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-2012 (AUGUST 2011).
