The Hopkins Sommer Scholars Program is developing a network of public health leaders who make a difference in the world.

As Dean Emeritus Alfred Sommer attests, good data does not always speak for itself. Translating knowledge into saving lives requires vision, dedication and leadership. To date, the program has helped more than 100 students develop the skills they need to pursue their public health goals.

Sommer Scholars exemplify scientific excellence, energy, ambition, political acumen and a determination to change the world. Trained in state-of-the-art methods at the largest school of public health in the world, Sommer Scholars undergo a special leadership development series and leave the program equipped and ready to protect health and save lives, millions at a time.
