Johns Hopkins offers the opportunity for senior health professionals to pursue the MPH degree by matriculating into the Fall Institute in Barcelona, Spain.
This institute is sponsored by the Bloomberg School and the Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona, one of the major public health research agencies in Europe. With the collaboration of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, one of the leading universities in Europe, the institute serves as a convenient venue for health professionals to begin their MPH programs.
The Fall Institute provides an opportunity for you to begin the program in Barcelona, starting with a one-day MPH orientation session followed by a one-week introductory course (i.e., Problem Solving in Public Health). You will have an opportunity to interact with Bloomberg School faculty, fellow students and program staff during the orientation and coursework to build relationships that will support your studies throughout the program.
The part-time format is extremely flexible. You may complete the degree requirements by creating a schedule that takes advantage of courses offered in the Fall Institute in Barcelona, the main campus in Baltimore and courses offered online.
You may earn up to 80 percent of the degree requirements online, using subsequent trips to Barcelona and/or Baltimore at times that are convenient for you to complete the degree program. You are required to complete 20 percent of the coursework (i.e., 16 credits) on-site in a classroom setting. These 16 credits may be earned in four weeks over the period of three years. You are welcome to take as many courses on-site as your schedule and location allows.
Students are permitted three years to complete the degree requirements, though most complete the degree in two and a half years.
The priority application deadline is August 1. All admissions materials must be received by September 1. You can contact the MPH program office or the Fall Institute staff for more information.
