Report shows that half of all bullying can be prevented. Describes three proven models of "bullying prevention" programs for schools and families.

Indicators of School Crime and Safety – 2002

Maine Project Against Bullying (MPAB)
Survey of bullying among Maine third graders, including methodologies, survey form, and findings.

Partners Against Hate
A collaboration among the Anti-Defamation League, the Leadership Conference Education Fund, and the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence to provide the public with hate crime-related information, resources, news reports, and effective counteraction tools. Their activity guide, Helping Children Resist Bias and Hate, includes work on bullying. 

Relationships Between Bullying and Violence Among U.S. Youth
According to the April 2003 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, U.S. researchers find that while it's common, bullying is not normal -- and it is associated with other forms of violent behaviors, including weapon carrying, frequent fighting, and fighting-related injury.

Selected Promising Programs
Many programs around the country help young people develop the critical tools and skills necessary to resist, reduce, and eliminate hate violence. Partners Against Hate describes examples of four programs they deem particularly noteworthy.
