The Welch Center hosts several seminars, journal clubs, and interest groups. Through these interactions, faculty and trainees present and discuss emerging scientific findings and brainstorm new research agendas.

Clinical Research Grand Rounds at the Welch Center

Sponsored jointly with the Graduate Training Program in Clinical Investigation and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, meets weekly during the academic year, and is open to the entire the Johns Hopkins community. These conferences provide opportunities for Welch Center faculty and guest scientists to present the results of ongoing, planned, and completed epidemiological, clinical and translational research. Master's and doctoral students in the clinical epidemiology and cardiovascular epidemiology concentrations are required to attend.

Welch Center Research Seminar (Journal Club)

Meets weekly during the academic year and is open to all interested trainees and faculty members. Each week a student or faculty member presents a scholarly article with a clinical epidemiology focus to the group and generates a discussion of methodologic issues. Master's and doctoral students in the clinical epidemiology and cardiovascular epidemiology concentrations are required to attend.

Welch Center Research-in-Progress (RIP) Seminar

Meets twice a month during the academic year to discuss career development topics such as developing an important research question, how to work with a mentor, and how to review and publish manuscripts. Students receive faculty feedback on research projects and gain skills and confidence delivering research presentations. Master's and doctoral students in the clinical epidemiology and cardiovascular epidemiology concentrations are required to attend.
