Lighthouse Studies at Peer Point is a community-based research center within the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Our mission is to conduct research that focuses on health promotion and disease prevention among a wide variety of populations with special emphasis on disadvantaged urban populations.
The goals of our research are to improve health and empower the community locally in Baltimore as well as in several international settings.
Most of the Lighthouse Studies at Peer Point use both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Our research activities include:
- Conducting behavioral surveillance studies
- Developing and testing behavioral interventions
- Disseminating our work for use by community-based organizations
In addition to the research activities, we also provide our clients with information, risk reduction materials, and referrals to medical, mental health, and social services.
The Investigators, study staff and data team are a diverse group who are committed to our utmost priorities: 1) protection of client confidentiality; 2) respect for all clients; 3) and adherence to the highest ethical standards in our research.
