• An overview of the demographic transition (aging society) and a brief description of disability trends. • A definition of long-term care and the types of compensatory strategies most commonly used (environmental modification, assistive devices, personal care, and senior housing or housing with supportive services). • Long term care financing (predominantly Medicaid and private pay) and reasons for growing interest in home and community innovations within the Medicaid program. General information about the Waiver for Older Adults and the Living at Home Waiver including the available services under each waiver.
