Vaccines and Society: Some Unexpected Stories

Purpose: The 2012 Vaccine Day photo contest will collect submissions in advance of the 5th annual Vaccine Day event sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Vaccine Initiative. The theme of the 2012 Vaccine Day event is the Decade of Vaccines. Photographs illustrating the impact of vaccines on public health will be on display during the poster session in Feinstone Hall. Images will also be displayed on the JHVI website and may be displayed at JHSPH, with permission, following the event.
Description of Entries: To best illustrate The Decade of Vaccines, photo images should illustrate any aspect of vaccine development, evaluation, implementation or positive impact of vaccines. Examples include vaccination campaigns in a schools or communities, recipients of vaccines, beneficial effects of vaccines, or vaccine research. Photos should capture the positive impact of vaccines and vaccinations in local and international communities or may capture any stage of vaccine development and laboratory research. Review the Photoshare Development and Photography Ethics site for a description of the principles of editorial photography and obtaining consent when photographing in the field.
How to enter: Individuals may submit up to three photos to the photo contest directly to Amber Cox. You will receive an email confirmation that we have received your photos.
Each photo should be identified with the title "Decade of Vaccines," a caption, including country/community where the photo was taken, and a description of how the photo illustrates the Decade of Vaccines. Please include your full name and Hopkins association.
Photo size/resolution: Allowed file types: png gif jpg jpeg. Images must be larger than 250x250 pixels. If you have questions, contact Amber Cox.
Who May Enter: Staff, faculty and students from Johns Hopkins University.
