Developing an Injury Surveillance System in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Ugandan worker

Considering the high burden of injuries in Abu Dhabi, the Health Authority developed a draft electronic and paper-based injury and poisoning notification system (IPNS) to generate better data on the nature and severity of injuries.

Members of our team, along with scientists from the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, pilot-tested the system. Furthermore, they trained personnel to implement the system, which is now mandatory for all hospitals in the country.
