Community Engagement

Engaging and building our Community Advisory Board (CAB) is one of our biggest successes thus far. We brought together a diverse and inclusive group of stakeholders and set priorities important to individual stakeholders as well as the group.

Building a cohesive group that works well together requires good timing, shared values and commitment, and our strong focus on respect and collaboration has resulted in a low rate of turnover in membership. We developed the CAB’s mission, vision and goals early in the process and conduct annual reviews to reaffirm these constructs. We also continue to engage new members and to work together on new research, education, and advocacy initiatives.

The Center has become a leader in stakeholder engaged research and practice. To realize its vision of being a leading transformative force for health equity, we are implementing community and stakeholder engagement activities related to three strategic goals:

  1. Strengthening the Center's infrastructure to support best-practices for stakeholder engaged research
  2. Rigorously evaluating both our approach to stakeholder engagement, and the impact of stakeholder engagement on internal (i.e., Hopkins faculty and trainees) and external stakeholders
  3. Creating opportunities to extend the Center’s local, statewide, and national impact

Dr. Chidinma Ibe is the Center’s Associate Director for Stakeholder Engagement.
