To provide biostatistical and information science expertise in support of health research.

Clients we serve:

Health researchers at Johns Hopkins and other academic health centers, pharmaceutical companies, medical research organizations, managed care organizations, and government agencies, such as the NIH and state health departments.

The Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Center was officially instituted in 1997, through the efforts of Dr. Scott L. Zeger, former Chair of the Department of Biostatistics.  The Center was formed to begin to fill the critical need for biostatisticians across the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.  As the small Center began to grow, it collaborated on projects not only from this campus, but from affiliated organizations such as Kennedy Krieger Institute and the Johns Hopkins Healthcare System, then larger organizations such as the pharmaceutical companies, biomedical research and technology centers, and managed care organizations.   It also worked with non-profit organizations and government agencies.  The Center's work took on even larger impact, when it sponsored a short course on multi-level modeling in Bangladesh and as the coordinating center for biostatistical expertise in clinical research under the University’s new Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR).

The Center continues to grow, providing its expertise and services to the Hopkins community, the region, and its global neighbors.
