Founded in 2013, the JHU-UPF Public Policy Center provides an international hub for faculty and students to participate in the academic activities of both institutions at the graduate level with a primary focus on public and social policy. The JHU-UPF Public Policy Center conducts research and teaching in major areas of impact on the social wellbeing, quality of life and health of populations, with emphasis on North America and Europe. These areas include worldwide climate change, economic and financial crises, and the economic and financial integration of the European Union.

The executive board of the JHU-UPF Public Policy Center includes multidisciplinary faculty from Johns Hopkins University and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

Every year, the JHU-UPF Public Policy Center hosts a Fall Institute, developed by the JHSPH Department of Health Policy and Management, Pompeu Fabra University and the Public Health Agency of Barcelona. This annual Institute features short-term, intensive educational courses in a variety of public health disciplines. The Fall Institute enables graduate students and health professionals to strengthen their understanding of health policy issues, gain a solid knowledge of policies and management approaches and explore innovations in the field.
