New Course: COVID-19 and Tobacco Use

Published

The COVID-19 pandemic has permeated every aspect of our lives. Many people have questions about the interaction between smoking and COVID-19; there has also been some misinformation about these interactions. To help people learn more about the connection between tobacco use and COVID-19, the Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC), at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has developed the free online course COVID-19 and Tobacco Use.

The course covers the impact of smoking on COVID-19, the effects of nicotine at a molecular level, and the behavior of the tobacco industry during the pandemic. With engaging graphics, short videos, and easy-to-complete exercises, the course takes about 30 minutes to finish. Everyone who completes the course can obtain a certificate of completion from IGTC.
