About Us

Improving lives through mental health and addiction policy research.

Our Mission

The mission of the Johns Hopkins Center for Mental Health and Addiction Policy (CMAP) is to improve the well-being of individuals and communities affected by mental health and substance use disorders. We bridge the gap between research and mental health and addiction policy by providing evidence-based guidance to decisionmakers at local, state, and federal levels.

Our Vision

We envision a future where our interdisciplinary programs and initiatives illuminate priorities and identify solutions to advance mental health and addiction policy. We will achieve this goal through rigorous research, innovative training, and cross sector collaborations.

The aim of the Center for Mental Health and Addiction Policy at the Bloomberg School is to improve the lives of persons with mental illness and addiction through engaging in policy research, translating research evidence into policy and practice, and training a next generation of mental health and addiction policy researchers.
