Information For Participants

Since 1988, the ALIVE cohort study has conducted semi-annual follow up with over 3,000 HIV-infected- , and at-risk, uninfected-people who inject drugs(PWIDs) in Baltimore City. The current median age of participants is 48 years old and the study population is about 90% African American.

  • Post-HIV test counseling
  • Referrals to medical and social services
  • Education about how to reduce the risk of getting HIV

Outreach

ALIVE Study Staff conducts outreach in the community including attending community events (e.g., Day at the Market) and locations serving our participants.

In order to reach participants facing transportation challenges and other barriers in accessing the clinic, and to expand our outreach, we are also utilizing a mobile van.
