About the Office of External Affairs
The Office of External Affairs (OEA) is a key driver in fulfilling the Bloomberg School of Public Health’s vision of protecting health, saving lives—millions at a time, through an integrated approach to fundraising, engagement and communications.
The office seeks to develop a broad base of philanthropic support and engagement domestically and globally, while providing strategic communications and marketing leadership for the School. This ensures a clear and consistent position to strengthen engagement around the School’s three areas of focus: research, education and practice.
There are three cross-functional teams in OEA: finance and administration; communications; and development and constituent relations, consisting of approximately 50 full-time employees. All three teams are committed to bringing their collective skills and expertise to engage, promote and deepen the Bloomberg School’s relationships with its diverse community of students, faculty, practitioners, alumni, donors, and other collaborators.
OEA functions as a resource for both internal and external collaborators including with School departments, centers, institutes and offices throughout the School. We engage with external groups including research organizations, NGOs, foundations, corporations, community and civic organizations.
The office leads initiatives directly and work alongside internal and external groups. We act as a catalyst and consultant to various individuals and groups, providing advice and direction on how to approach initiatives to advance the School’s mission.
