Message from Dean Klag Regarding Japan Earthquake

Published

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the entire Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health community, I would like to extend my thoughts and concerns to those affected by the earthquake, tsunami and subsequent crises on the northeast coast of Japan. I heard the news Friday afternoon while in Australia. In fact, I had just finished meeting with representatives of a Japanese university. Because I am traveling, it has taken some time to get this message out but, needless to say, my thoughts immediately went out to our colleagues and alumni in Japan, particularly those who may have lost loved ones.

Those affected by this disaster are in dire need now and will need significant assistance in the days, weeks and months to come.  I encourage you to support the organizations working on the ground in Japan to protect and save lives. Possible organizations who are active include the American Red Cross and UNICEF.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Japanese people at this very difficult time.

Sincerely,
Michael J. Klag, MD, MPH
