Engage Baltimore

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is hosting a day of reflection and progress for public health in Baltimore.

The event will involve active listening with respect and humility to voices from the greater Baltimore community, and serve as an opportunity for students, staff and faculty to engage in action-oriented discussions about their roles in facilitating change.

Speakers include Congressman Elijah Cummings, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Leana Wen, School leaders, a panel of Baltimore community leaders and performances by Baltimore artists.

The discussions will focus on

  • recent events in the city catalyzed by the death of Freddie Gray
  • factors causing inequity affecting Baltimore citizens, and
  • innovative public health solutions to address the challenges facing our Baltimore community.
