Decade of Vaccine Economics (DoVE) Phase III
The DOVE III exercise responds to the requests of the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) to:
- Further develop methods for estimating and projecting resource requirements for immunization programs,
- Include financing projections to present a funding gap analysis, and
- Incorporate economic benefits to conduct a return on investment (ROI) analysis for the Decade of Vaccines (2011-2020)
The DOVE III team has developed a suite of models that demonstrate the value of vaccines and assess progress of national immunization programs against the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP). We enable donors and international bodies make informed decisions on regional and global vaccine investments and strategies.
The DOVE suite of models estimates the global costs, financing funding gap, economic benefits, and return on investment to reach the GVAP goals across the Decade of Vaccines (2011-2020). The scope covers 94 low- and middle-income countries across 10-18 antigens. Analyses are currently used by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Gavi Secretariat, UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO).
DOVE results have been incorporated in Bill Gates’s speeches, developed into infographics, utilized to develop WHO regional strategies for immunization and referred to mobilized resources for Gavi’s replenishment for 2016-2020.
