Svea Closser is a medical anthropologist who studies the social and political factors that shape vaccine delivery and acceptance. She is Associate Professor in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has been studying the Global Polio Eradication Initiative since the mid-2000s, and has many research articles as well as a book (Chasing Polio in Pakistan, Vanderbilt University Press, 2010) about polio vaccine delivery. She has longstanding research interests in the relationship between vaccination campaigns and routine immunization systems, as well as the experiences of frontline workers delivering immunization. Currently she also works on COVID vaccine delivery and acceptance.
