
Chizoba Wonodi, Dr.PH, MBBS, MPH
Nigeria Country Director
Dr. Chizoba Wonodi is public health physician with over twenty-five years of experience on projects in Africa, Asia, and America. She is the Nigeria Country Director for IVAC and splits her time between Abuja and Baltimore conducting research and leading a portfolio of work to improve immunization service delivery and primary health care systems in Nigeria. She is currently the Principal Investigator for a Gates-funded project to evaluate the use of SMS messaging to improve immunization uptake in Northern Nigeria. She is also the team lead for a Gavi-supported program to provide technical assistance to the Nigerian Government on Transition readiness and immunization systems improvement.
Dr. Wonodi obtained her medical degree from the University of Benin, Nigeria and her masters and doctorate in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Wonodi is the Founder and Convener of Women Advocates for Vaccine Access (WAVA), a coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria which advocates for increased uptake of vaccines and sustainable financing of immunization programs.
