
Anita Shet, MD, PhD

Dr. Shet is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist with broad interests in clinical epidemiology and childhood infections in low and middle-income countries. Her work spans child mortality and morbidity in India with a focus on HIV and vaccine-preventable infections. She leads a multicenter study on surveillance of invasive pneumococcal infections among Indian children and is evaluating the impact of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine rollout in India. Her research also includes the study of epidemiology and immunology of dengue infections. She received her MBBS and MD degrees in Pediatrics from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, India, her PhD in Public Health Sciences at Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Minnesota. She currently serves on the Council of the International Congress of Infectious Diseases and is a member of the Indo-US Vaccine Action Program Steering Group on Epidemiological Preparation for Vaccine Trials.
