Center for Advancing Research on Transportation Emissions, Energy and Health

Summary

The Texas A&M University System (lead), in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of California, Riverside established a Tier 1 University Transportation Center (UTC) focusing on the FAST Act priority research area of “Preserving the Environment.” The proposed Center for Advancing Research on Transportation Emissions, Energy and Health (CARTEEH) will focus on-road transportation emissions (i.e., on-road mobile source emissions), including criteria pollutants, air toxics, and greenhouse gases (GHG)/energy. CARTEEH’s unique contribution is in advancing research that addresses emissions in the context of public health, by bringing together experts from two disciplines (transportation and public health) that have not traditionally worked together. CARTEEH will not only serve transportation research, education, and technology transfer, but also promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication.
