Maryland Overdose Data to Action Evaluation Project
All Jurisdictions, MD, United States
The Maryland Overdose Data Collaborative (MODC) is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHBSPH) conducting a two-year evaluation of MDH’s prevention and harm reduction programs. The goal of the MODC will be to evaluate six key strategic areas within the OD2A’s ongoing activities: i) the enhancement of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP) to reduce high-risk prescribing behaviors; ii) improved state-local integration to harmonize prevention efforts; iii) improvement of linkages to care to increase referrals and engagement in evidence-based treatment; iv) the provision of provider and health systems support to promote adherence to prescribing guidelines and alternatives to pharmacological treatments; v) partnerships with public safety and first responders to align public health and safety efforts; and vi) empowering individuals to make safer choices by increasing awareness of and engagement in harm reduction programs among people who use drugs.
The project is co-led by Co-PIs Ju Nyeong Park, PhD MHS and Renee Johnson, PhD MPH.
