Preventing community-associated methicillin and multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections in infants and young children
XXXX, NC, United States
Summary
The overall goal of this project is to establish accurate estimates of the prevalence of MRSA and MDRSA (multidrug-resistant S. aureus) exposure in young children and infants of industrial swine production workers in North Carolina – a region with intensive industrial swine production. The goal of this study is to contribute to understanding of industrial swine production practices as an independent risk factor for exposure to MRSA and MDRSA in a population with enhanced susceptibility to MRSA and MDRSA infection.
