Mindfulness training with HIV-positive youth and adult family members to improve treatment adherence

Baltimore, MD, United States

The specific aims are to: (1) assess the family support networks among adolescents and young adults living with HIV; and (2) to examine the effects of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on family support relationships and the potential logistics of a two-generation MBSR intervention. Data from these two aims will then be used to develop a two-generation MBSR pilot intervention to examine the acceptability and feasibility of a pilot MBSR intervention among pairs of 25 adolescents living with HIV/and an adult family member.
