Evaluating Becoming One: A Faith-based Curriculum for Counseling Couples to Reduce Partner Violence

This project evaluates a newly designed, faith-based curriculum for couples, designed to improve relationship quality and reduce intimate partner violence in rural Uganda. The curriculum deconstructs biblical texts frequently used to justify violence and builds skills around shared financial decision making, sexual consent, couple communication and emotional regulation. The intervention design and evaluation is a collaboration between researchers and design experts from the Airbel Center, International Poverty Action, Princeton University and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
