Multi-level determinants of male circumcision uptake, Rakai, Uganda

Summary

Medical male circumcision (MMC) is an important HIV prevention strategy in sub-Saharan Africa, and its long-term benefit on HIV prevention requires high uptake. This study will use quantitative and qualitative methods to identify and interpret community/structural, interpersonal and individual level predictors of MMC uptake in Rakai, Uganda. Findings from this study will have substantial importance for programs and policies regarding scale-up of MMC in sub-Saharan Africa, and are critical for modeling the future impact of MMC on HIV.
