Summary

The Gambia Liver Cancer Study is an international collaborative project involving the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the Medical Research Council-UK, the Gambia Government, and the National Cancer Institue. Incident hepatocellular carcinoma cases, cirrhotic patients, and healthy controls were recruited from three tertiary hospital sites. Viral, environmental, and genetic factors have been evaluated among study participants (see publications list). On-going work focuses on further data analysis and specialized virologic and biomarker testing.
