I have been on the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health since 1993. I received a BA in Zoology from Drew University, and a PhD in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Following my doctoral training, I completed a research fellowship at the National Institute of Child Health and Development in the Division of Epidemiology, Statistics and Prevention Research. I have extensive training and experience in Maternal and Child Health research and programming, with an emphasis on: the promotion and conduction of collaborative research and activities between academic and public agencies for mutual benefit and interests; continuing education and training for public health professionals; research, training, and education in preventive health behavior and health promotion; nutrition education of at risk populations; peri-natal and prenatal health; obesity; chronic diseases; and urban health, primarily from the theoretical perspective of the behavioral sciences. I also perform clinical duties as a certifier and nutrition counselor at the Johns Hopkins University Women, Infants and Children Program
