Overview
Dr. Tahilin Sanchez Karver (she/her/ella) is a social and behavioral scientist with over 10 years of experience in public health research and practice. Her work explores the influence of social-structural determinants of health on quality of life and health outcomes. She specifically examines the barriers and facilitators in accessing quality care among highly marginalized and stigmatized populations in domestic and international settings. Dr. Karver has worked with socially vulnerable populations including cisgender female sex workers living with HIV, women seeking safe abortion services, indigenous women, and Latinx communities. She is dedicated to the application of social and behavioral theories to research and has recently explored the application of intersectionality theory in relation to quantitative methodologies. Dr. Karver is experienced in mixed methods research design and execution, and scale development exploring latent constructs, including individual- and community-level stigmas.
