Overview

Dr. Ishigami is an associate research professor of Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Core Faculty at the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research. Dr. Ishigami is an epidemiologist and clinical nephrologist with interdisciplinary expertise in the interface of epidemiology and kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and infectious disease, including applying advanced statistical methods, such as causal inference, time-varying exposure analysis, longitudinal data analysis, Monte-Carlo simulation, and cost-effectiveness analysis. Dr. Ishigami has led projects utilizing data from national cohorts such as the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study and the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) Study, as well as healthcare system-based cohorts such as Geisinger and the Stockholm CREAtinine Measurements (SCREAM) project. Currently, Dr. Ishigami is conducting a research project funded by the NIDDK, which focuses on promoting influenza vaccination among individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) incorporating rigorous implementation science techniques, such as questionnaire development, survey administration, primary data collection, vaccination program development, and program implementation and evaluation.
