Milo Puhan went to medical school of the University of Zurich and obtained a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Amsterdam. After serving as Associate Professor (tenure track) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Baltimore, USA) he was appointed as Professor and Chair of Epidemiology at the University of Zurich in 2013. His research focuses on tests to predict and monitor chronic disease and to develop prevention and disease management strategies (in particular lung and cardiovascular diseases). A substantial part of his work is methodological and includes, for example, the development and application of methods for benefit harm assessment of medical interventions. Milo Puhan has a special interest in developing educational programs and train future academic leaders. He serves as Director of the Epidemiology & Biostatistics PhD program (University of Zurich) that uses innovative approaches for recruiting, training and mentoring of PhD candidates.
