Overview

Conan Dickson is an Associate Practice Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Dr. Dickson serves as the Associate Director of the Master in Health Administration Program and as the Director of the Health Finance and Management Certificate Program. His academic interests are health care management, strategy, health finance, and data analysis / quantitative tools.  He also teaches the core undergraduate course - Fundamentals in Health Policy & Management for the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Public Health Studies Program.  He was awarded the Golden Apple Award by the BSPH Student Assembly in 2023 in recognition for teaching excellence.  He is the faculty advisor the Johns Hopkins Chapter of Upsilon Phi Delta Honor Society. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Prior to joining the faculty full-time in March 2020, Dr. Dickson spent twenty-five years working at Johns Hopkins Medicine in a variety of leadership roles including Sr. Director of Business Development & Strategy; Chief of Staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital; Administrator for Operations Support at the Johns Hopkins Health System; Administrator for Medical Affairs at The Johns Hopkins Hospital; Sr. Researcher at the Johns Hopkins Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care (now Armstrong Institute); and Assistant Administrator of the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center. He also served as the program director of the JHM Administrative Fellowship for fifteen years and served on the Steering Committee of the National Council of Administrative Fellowships.  

Outside of Hopkins, he currently serves as the Maryland Regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives; on the Board of Directors of The Healthcare Council; on the Board Finance Committee for AUPHA; and on the Education and Editorial Advisory Board for the Society for Health Strategy and Market Development.
