Carol Forster, MD
Dr. Forster is a trained pharmacist, practicing primary care physician, and physician director of Pharmacy & Therapeutics and Medication Safety for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. She has led the opioid reduction strategy in the Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic region, where high-dose opioid prescribing has decreased by almost 70 percent over the last five years, while resources to manage patients with chronic pain have increased. An expert in pharmaceutical policy and practice, she has also served in many other capacities, including having testified in front of the U.S. Senate on opioid policy, representing Kaiser Permanente on the National Quality Forum's Opioid Action Team, and serving on the Virginia Governor’s Task Force on Opioid and Heroin Use.
Dr. Forster attended St. John’s University College of Pharmacy before attending medical school at State University of New York at Buffalo.
