Residency Experience

In the second year of the MHA program, students are placed in eleven-month full-time administrative residency positions which typically include salary and benefits.  Additionally, second year students receive a 75 percent master’s scholarship.

It is designed to complement and reinforce the didactic portion of the program by providing residents with an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained during the first year, to develop skills in management according to individually designed learning objectives, and to work as part of a management team in a health or health care-related organization. Preceptors are institutional leaders chosen for their leadership abilities, their commitment to education, and their willingness to involve administrative residents in the work of the management team with educationally appropriate and challenging assignments.
