Epidemiology @ Hopkins Turns 100!
2019 marks the centennial of the Department of Epidemiology. As we commemorate this year with celebrations and honors, we would also like to reflect on where Epidemiology has emerged over the last 100 years, where we stand today, and where the field might be headed. Be sure to check back often as more information will be added to this page as it becomes available.
About the Logo
Designed by deputy chair and professor Shruti Mehta, the centennial logo features a contemporary “100” depicting epidemiology as a population science. The script underneath the “100” harks back to the department’s renowned past and tradition with a modern twist: the @ symbol, used in scientific formulas as well as social media, represents the importance of communicating science across various populations.
