Samuel Jordan Graham Award
BMB Faculty Fengyi Wan, PhD wins the Samuel Jordan Graham Award
This highly competitive award is made possible through support from the dean’s office and recognizes excellence in basic science research involving a collaboration between faculty members in the Schools of Public Health and Medicine. Together with Cynthia Sears in the School of Medicine, Fengyi has recently identified an array of novel bacterial pathogen-encoded virulence factors and is investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms through which they contribute to pathogenesis. Their collaborative work has the potential to reveal new strategies for preventing and treating bacterial pathogen infections and foodborne diseases, both major public health concerns.
