Interested in learning more about how to create a strategic plan? Students in this course will deepen knowledge of designing an organizational level strategic plan. This course deals with understanding the framework and process to effectively create a strategic plan. Various industry recognized approaches and tools utilized for strategic planning will serve as foundational learning, including Porter’s Five Forces Analysis and the Baldridge Excellence Framework.
Deepens knowledge of designing an organizational level strategic plan, develops an understanding of the frameworks and processes used to effectively create a strategic plan, and applies various industry recognized approaches and tools utilized for strategic planning as learners design a strategic plan. Covers foundational learning concepts and includes models such as Porter’s Five Forces Analysis and the Baldridge Excellence Framework.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Translate organizational mission into strategic objectives
- Synthesize relevant internal and external data derived from strategic analysis
- Develop strategic alternatives using evidenced-informed frameworks
- Prepare an organization-level strategic plan with appropriate consideration to implementation and results measurement

- 30% Discussion board posts and peer reflections
- 40% Prepare and Present a Strategic Plan
based on Case Study materials to be provided
