Explores a variety of tools and methods applied by GDEC faculty to conduct public health research with a focus on hands-on skills building. Includes topics: communication and data visualization strategies; and considerations for research projects which involve human subjects.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Choose appropriate tools and methods for data visualization in order to share data with diverse audiences
- Explain important issues and considerations for research studies involving human subjects and oversight by Institutional Review Boards (IRBs)
- Develop data skills needed for public health practice, including problem-solving, analytic thinking, visualization, communication, and collaboration
- Analyze large-scale data from low-and-middle income settings or from global health agencies to illustrate and interpret a public health priority
