340.761 Epi Methods for Doctoral Students 1

Description
Introduces epidemiologic methods to doctoral students in the department of epidemiology (second course of four-term sequence). Focuses on the use of regression analysis in epidemiolocal research, selection bias, confounding and methods to address it, and effect modification.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe how bias and confounding may threat the validity of findings in epidemiology and identify ways to minimize it
  2. Describe why there may be effect modification and interaction, and how to identify these empirically
  3. Calculate and interpret measures of association from different study designs and with various regression analyses
