Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Evaluate clinical studies conducted by other investigators
  2. Appraise scientific data for bias, confounding, and other sources of error
  3. Identify different approaches used to answer research questions in various populations including at-risk populations, and the implications for study design, conduct, and outcomes
  4. Analyze the performance of diagnostic tests and potential sources of measurement error
  5. Determine common sources of research fraud and explore approaches to identifying and reporting them
  6. Generate and present valid research questions that address topics of public health importance
  7. Develop a research proposal based on a conceptual framework that includes specific aims and hypotheses
Methods of Assessment
This course is evaluated as follows:
  • 30% Participation
  • 20% Written Assignment(s)
  • 50% Final Project
Enrollment Restriction
Restricted to GTPCI students, and faculty and staff with active involvement in clinical research.
